Lewis on top at Caymanas Park
CHAMPION jockey Reyan Lewis stole the show at Caymanas Park on Saturday, winning three of the eight races on offer.
Lewis’s winners included nine-year-old bay gelding Storm, who won the $1.01-million Robert “Claiming King” Darby (Snr) Trophy feature race, a three-year-old and upward Claiming ($1 million-$800,000) spread over seven furlongs (1,400m).
Storm, trained by Peter-John Parsard who is also a part-owner along with Sylverster Suberan, made one move to win the race easily by 5½ lengths at the wire. The nine-year-old bay gelding Storm (Natural Selection – All For Pleasure) won ahead of Justin Biden (Tevin Foster) and Power (Romario Spencer) in a time of 1:29.0 (23.4 x 47.0 x 1:13.).
His other winners were Blitz Strike in the opening event for trainer Marlon Pusey and
Royal Ash for trainer Anthony Nunes in the fourth event.
It was the second-consecutive race day Lewis was winning three races as he took his tally for the season to nine winners.
Jockeys Robert Halledeen and Tevin Foster should not be left out of the celebration party as they have won two races each on the day.
Halledeen won aboard Unruly Don in the second for owner/trainer Oral Hayden, and
Rejected Raja in the ninth for trainer Robert Pearson. Foster, the current leading reinsman, won the fifth race aboard Aphelios for owner/trainer Lincoln Calder, and aboard Sweet Victory in the seventh race for trainer Howard Jaghai.
Racing continues next weekend, with races on Saturday and Sunday.
