Jamalco supervisor killing a hit, cops theorise
The police believe the killing of a Jamalco contractor/supervisor in Clarendon on Friday night might have been a hit.
Harry Hawthorne, 71, of Glenhaven Close in May Pen, was shot dead and a woman injured by gunmen at a bar on Western Park Road in the parish.
The police said they are following several leads, but initial investigations so far have pointed to the killing being a hit. The hit is not work-related, the police asserted.
The May Pen police reported that around 8:05 pm, Hawthorne and the now-injured woman were at the bar when armed men drove up in a car and entered, and loud explosions were heard.
Reports said the men then fled in the vehicle. On the arrival of the police, checks were made, and Hawthorne and the woman were seen with gunshot wounds.
They were both taken to hospital, where Hawthorne was pronounced dead, and the woman treated and released. The bartender, who was also at the bar, was not hurt.
