Brunch and Soca was a hit
KINGSTON, Jamaica – The first edition of Brunch and Soca at the Police Officers Club in St Andrew on Friday was a big success. It was a great way to start off the Jamaica carnival weekend, with many of the island’s best soca DJs whipping the fair-sized crowd into a frenzied display of skimpily-dressed revellers.
The crowd was a mix of hardcore soca lovers up front and casual listeners in the back but the DJs were able to keep everyone happy with a great mix of soca songs from yesteryear and trending hits like In the Center by Farmer Nappy, Soca Eden by Destra Garcia, and Life After Fete by Kerwin Du Bois.
Sweating patrons took time off dancing to munch on a wide range of delectable and sumptuous dishes before they returned to their energetic ‘wining’.
One of the highlights of the event was the amazing food provided by FJ Smokehouse. The patrons couldn’t get enough of the delicious dishes that were served as the impeccable presentation matched well with the tasty smorgasbord of treats. Patrons mentioned that it was evident that a lot of thought and effort went into curating the menu.
Meanwhile, the bar staff from Barcode kept the patrons hydrated in a friendly, efficient manner.
The dance floor was always packed, and patrons couldn’t resist moving to the infectious beats.
Powerfully built men lifted females on their shoulders and cavorted and pranced through the crowd while selectors like Drillz, Selector Watty, DJ Q, Young Chow played a steady mix of soca vibes. Selectors Kryptic and Ricky Platinum played a mix of dancehall songs typical of Jamaican carnival events.
Selectors Back 2 Basics and Tony X closed the show strongly with a high-energy set filled with the best soca songs for the new carnival season.
The decor team, including the draping and backdrop team, deserves a special mention. They played a major role in bringing the event’s vision to life. The venue looked stunning, and every detail was carefully thought out. The ambiance created by the decor team added an extra layer of excitement and elegance to the event.
The party promoter, Jonell Goodluck said he was pleasantly surprised at how well things went for the event. Goodluck told members of the media that ‘Brunch and Soca’ is already making plans for Jamaica next year.
Next stop for Brunch and Soca will be Dubai from April 18 to 22.
