All set for Bacchanal J’Ouvert tonight
Michael Ammar Jr, co-director of Bacchanal Jamaica, says Friday’s staging of J’Ouvert, the Paint Ra ve edition, will set the tone for Jamaica Carnival road march.
“Preparations have been going well. All the entertainers are booked, confirmed, and on their way to Jamaica. The buildout of the location started [on Tuesday] and will continue… All the paint is here, all the giveaways are here, the alcohol is on the way to the location. Everything is in place,” he told the Jamaica Observer.
Slated for Mas Camp in Kingston, Bacchanal J’Ouvert will feature music from Tyler and Fyahman, Brush1 and Franco, Back 2 Basics and Tony X, Nocturnal Dre Cyclone, Ovadose, Sinistar and Patrick The Hypeman. There will also be live performances from Bunji Garlin and Fay-Ann Lyons.
Ammar Jr explained that the team chose the two soca stars for specific reasons.
“Bunji won the road march song last year and he has the second song this year, and he has a myriad of hits including other road march hits over the last 10 years. I would say he’s on the top of the heap right now when it comes to entertainers. Fay-Ann, of course, is his wife and she has some fantastic music as well,” the co-director reasoned.
Friday’s event will continue into early Saturday morning with a mini road march.
All attendees will get bottles of paint to add to the experience.
Ammar Jr is guaranteeing attendees, and those undecided, that the fete will be memorable.
“This event is definitely the biggest and best J’Ouvert in Jamaica. It’s also the best bang for your buck in terms of entertainment, because we have the top singers, the top DJs, and a very good price. Mas Camp just has a vibe that very few other venues have,” he said.
