Bunji Garlin, Fayann Lyons set to take the stage at Bacchanal J’ouvert
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Soca lovers are in for a treat as Bunji Garlin and Fayann Lyons are set to take the stage at Bacchanal J’ouvert on Friday, April 5 at Mas Camp in Kingston.
The soca power couple’s energy and vibe is usually unmatched, evidenced by their multiple awards including Soca Monarch and Road March titles.
The event which is a partnership between Bacchanal Jamaica, Xodus and Red Antz Miami J’ouvert will also employ the talents of DJs across the Caribbean and internationally to keep the vibes going at the party and when revellers take to the streets Saturday morning.
The DJ lineup for Bacchanal J’ouvert includes Ovadose from Bahamas; and Nocturnal, DJ Sinister Back to Basics and Tony X from the United States.
“Talents nurtured and honed in the Caribbean, who will also grace the Bacchanal stage for J’ouvert, are DJ Jus Jay from Barbados; DJ Franco, one of Jamaica’s hottest DJs, will team up with Brush 1 to keep the fete pumping… DJ Tyler, a young Jamaican DJ who is versed in soca and dancehall will add his talents to this stellar lineup. The incomparable hype man Patrick, from Trinidad and Tobago will team up with DJ Sinistar both at the party and on the road while Cyclone will do the honours for Nocturnal,” Bacchanal Jamaica disclosed in a release on Tuesday.
Bacchanal J’ouvert said that it has been a favourite in the carnival calendar for years and it expects that 2024 will meet the expectations set by prior years.
The event is expected to be a precursor to the carnival road parade on Sunday as revellers will take to the streets at 5am on Saturday after partying all night and march from Mass Camp on Arthur Wint Drive, and follow a preset route to take party-goers back to the starting point.
“They will turn left onto Arthur Wint Drive, immediately right onto Roosevelt Avenue up to Stanton Terrace then across Old Hope Road to Fairway Avenue. At the corner of Fairway and Lady Musgrave revellers will turn right by the Mystic Thai Restaurant and up Lady Musgrave Avenue then right, again, onto Seaview Avenue down to Mountain View Avenue to return to the Mas Camp at the National Stadium,” the release said.
