Refunded after runaround
Dear Claudienne,
In December 2023 I purchased a car from a dealership that advertised online. The company told me that the vehicle was on the wharf and that if I paid the deposit I could collect it one to two weeks before Christmas.
I paid $2,400,000 for the vehicle in three deposits which I made to the company on December 9, 11 and 12 and was assured that I would get it by December 29, the latest. When I checked with them on December 29 they told me that short staff at the wharf had resulted in a delay of the Customs clearance of the vehicle.
On January 2, 2024 when I still had not got the car I requested a refund of the monies I had paid. The company had told me that the money would be refunded over 14 business days, which means that I should have got the full refund by January 23.
When I made a complaint to the police on January 24 the company told the police that they were going to pay me that same day. The company then sent me a fake receipt that claimed they had deposited one million dollars to my account.
To date, March 8, 2024, I have only been refunded $400,000 of the $2.4 million I paid to the company. Every day they have a different story. I even got a lawyer to send the company a letter of command but I have still not been refunded my money.
Please help me.

Dear LC,
On March 11, 2024 the company assured Tell Claudienne that the $2,000.000 would be refunded to you in two instalments. On Thursday, March 21, 2024 you informed the column that your bank had cleared a cheque in the sum of $1,000,000 lodged to your account by the motor vehicle dealership. On March 27, 2024 you advised Tell Claudienne that your bank had cleared a second cheque of $1,000,000 that the dealership lodged to your account.
This means that the motor vehicle dealership has now repaid you the total $2,400,000 you had paid to them.
We wish you all the best.
