Quiet Luxury and Coastal Charm
Jamaican coastlines are graced with luxury villas that boast some of the most welcoming and modern homes in the Caribbean. Indeed, Jamaica is one of the few Caribbean islands that have consciously moved away from colonial architecture and embraced a more modern aesthetic in its architectural and interior landscape.
This villa, located on the north coast in Rio Nuevo, St Mary, maintains a casual aesthetic with a hint of quiet luxury and coastal charm.
The entryway greets you with an oak-framed dining table with brass inlay. Low-profile oak and leather-upholstered dining chairs facilitate an unobstructed view of the Caribbean sea. Floor-to-ceiling windows and doors ensure that coastal views are captured from every room.
Unfiltered natural light allowed us to indulge in modern two-toned kitchen cabinetry. The mixture of natural oak and matte trichorn black cabinets, and features like the concealed walk-in pantry and a storage-filled waterfall island are a chef’s dream.
Wood is an important element in Caribbean homes, and the floating wooden stairs leading to the primary suite were fabricated using local cedarwood. The suite adds a bit of tropical flair via a floral area rug. Subtle wallpaper behind the Burl Wood King bed ensures that 180-degree ocean views remain the focal point.
Southern-facing rooms provide dark, moody enclaves for gathering. The cavernous wine and TV rooms are the perfect juxtaposition to the light-filled main areas of the home.
