Seven Jamaicans progress to Carifta Games 100m finals
Seven athletes will represent Jamaica in the four 100m finals on Saturday’s first day of the 51st Carifta Games at the Kirani James Stadium in St George’s, Grenada.
Raheem Pinnock, who ran 10.66 seconds in the semi-final of the boys’ Under-20 section for 11th overall, is the only Jamaican not advancing to the finals of the event.
Javorne Dunkley clocked 10.23 seconds (1.5m/s) to win his semifinal in the Under- 20 boys, with defending champion Jaiden Reid of the Cayman Islands also advancing with 10.29 seconds (-1.0m/s).
Sabrina Dockery won her semi-final in 11.52 seconds (-1.9m/s) ahead of Barbados’ Kishawana Niles 11.61 (1.7m/s) while Theianna Lee Terrelonge won easy in her semi-final with 11.86 (-05m/s).
Adora Campbell, who replaced Natrece East, led all qualifiers in the Under-17 girls section after clocking 11.62 (-0.6m/s). She was followed by Guyana’s Athaleyha Hinckson in 11.84 (-3.9m/s) and Poshannalee Blake in 11.98 (0.7m/s).
Jamaicans had the two fastest qualifiers in the boys’ Under-17 section as Nyron Wade ran 10.72 seconds (-2.5m/s) and Malike Nugent clocked 10.89 (0.0m/s) with Trinidad and Tobago’s Kadeen Chinapoo next with 10.96 (-1.4m/s).
