Krispy Kreme opens new Portmore store
Doughnut company and coffee house chain Krispy Kreme has added its fourth location in Portmore, St Catherine.
Krispy Kreme opened the doors to its new store at 3 Portmore Parkway in St Catherine on Saturday, March 23.
“Our commitment to delivering freshly made, high-quality doughnuts remains unwavering, and we are excited to continue serving doughnut enthusiasts of all ages in our newest location,” Bradley Perkins, assistant brand manager at Krispy Kreme, said.
Ahead of the addition of the fourth store, Krispy Kreme only operated in Kingston from its Waterloo Road, Manor Park and downtown Kingston outlets. But with growing demand for its doughnuts which include chocolate iced glazed, strawberry iced glazed with sprinkles, caramel kreme crunch and cinnamon apple filled, the company has been eager to widen its footprints outside of the corporate zone.
Speaking on the expansion plans earlier this year, company CEO Lisa Lake said that Krispy Kreme will not only seek to build out retail stores but is also open to partnerships with service station dealers, pharmacy operators, among other commercial operations.
Krispy Kreme, which was launched in Jamaica in May 2023, catered to over 300 patrons on opening day, a turnout which pushed the company to fast-track its expansion plans. In less than a year of operating, the company is said to have provided jobs for some 100 Jamaicans across the four locations.
The doughnut company compete with Prestige Bakery Limited and Honey Bun for market share.
Krispy Kreme operates in Jamaica through local franchise holder Restaurant Associates Limited (RAL). RAL is also the local franchise operator of Burger King and Popeyes Chicken & Seafood.
