Following the incident, an air og gloom and fear hung over the community.
Marsha Williams, a resident of the area said these incidents are not common.
“Years me live here now and them things here no regular. This is a nice peaceful place, not a lot of killing, at least not that I know of. Everybody live in harmony so to hear that they found a man with chop wounds to him head, this is real sad and scary,” she said.
Williams is hoping that this will not spark a series of murders in the community. She also called for an increase in police presence in the community.
“We are Jamaicans so we know that sometimes these things can get out of hand, and by the time we look people are afraid to come here. We don’t want that and so I am asking the police to just pass through the area more often so that we can feel safer and to make sure that this doesn’t turn into a disaster,” she said.
The mother of three said she fears for the lives of her children and others in the community.
“The Easter holiday is coming up and children are going to want to go out and enjoy themselves at different fun days and family get-togethers so we just want the place to stay peaceful, especially at this time,” she noted.
