Dangerously close
Dear Claudienne,
I own a house in May Pen, Clarendon. The Jamaica Public Service (JPS) has placed a light pole very close to the gate of my property and it is endangering my house and property.
The light pole is now leaning and I fear that it could fall and damage my house. The JPS made an error in placing the light pole so close to my property, and on several occasions I have asked them to remove it. Up to now it has not been removed.
I would, therefore, appreciate your help to have this matter resolved.
EF
Dear EF,
Tell Claudienne has been in communication with JPS and was told that the matter was referred to the Legal Department.
You sent Tell Claudienne the following Whatsapp message:
“On Saturday, March 9, 2024, a JPS representative visited my home. In a phone conversation he told me that the light post planted before my gate served no useful purpose. He agreed that it was blocking the gateway and promised to speedily return and remove it.
On March 14, 2024,
Tell Claudienne received the following e-mail from the JPS:
“Thank you for following up on this matter. We have been in touch with the customer and arrangements are being made for the pole to be relocated shortly. We will let you know the date of relocation once this is finalised.”
On Tuesday, March 19, 2024, you informed the column that the light pole had been removed.
We wish you all the best.
