#Champs2024: St George’s Bristol heads into javelin throw Open final on top
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Deandre Bristol of St George’s College was the only athlete to throw over 60.00m in the preliminaries of the boys’ javelin throw Open at the ISSA/GraceKennedy Boys’ and Girls’ Athletics Championships on Wednesday.
Bristol recorded a best mark of 61.29m. The event’s qualifying standard is 53.00m.
Jamaica College’s (JC) Dorian Charles produced the second-best mark of the day with 58.57m while Alexander Betancourt of Kingston College (KC) recorded 58.50m.
Following suit over the 50.00m mark are Brandon Falconer of St Elizabeth Technical (57.50m), Munro College’s Ojay Ellis (56.31m), JC’s Jemar Ferguson (53.01m), Tarique Daley of Calabar High (52.13m) and Camperdown High’s Javon Forrest (50.60m).
Rounding out the top 12 finalists are Courtney Hanchard of KC (48.15m), Edwin Allen’s Peterson Daniel (47.94m), St Jago’s Roshane Baugh (46.43m) and Josiah Blake of St Catherine High (47.42m).
The final of the boys’ javelin throw Open is scheduled for Saturday at 1:05 pm.
