Woman charged for wasting police time
PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) — A 62-year-old has been charged with wasteful employment of the police time after she alleged that a police officer had forced her to perform sex acts on him while she was in a police cell.
The police said that the Professional Standards Bureau (PSB) had charged Rosidia Aleong following investigations into a report made at Maloney Police Station last September which was subsequently forwarded to the PSB.
The police said that Aleong, who was formally charged over the last weekend, had on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, gone to the Complaints Division of Maloney Police Station and reported that she was arrested on September 15, 2023 and remained in custody for four days.
“She further reported that while in a cell at Arima Police Station, east of here, a police officer who is a relative of someone she had an intimate relationship with, came to see her in the cell and allegedly forced her to perform certain sex acts on him.”
But the police said that the woman was taken to seek medical attention on September 19, and “thorough investigations were conducted, and footage was obtained from the Arima Police Station which allegedly revealed that nothing reported by the 62-year-old was seen on the footage”.
She is due to appear in court later this week.
