RÊVE for Vogue and Launches Internship Programme
RÊVE co-principals Tesea and Duane Bennett have a lot more to bsmile about of late. Firstly, their jewellery was front and centre for V-Day in American Vogue adorned on up-and-coming reggae singer, model and actress Sevana, who recently made her acting debut as Judy Moyatt in the Bob Marley: One Love biopic. And then there’s the jewellery internship programme empowering single mothers powered by Caribbean Creatives and Jamaican entrepreneurs.
“It’s the first local and regional jewellery internship programme, made possible by the generous support of business mentor Gary ‘Butch’ Hendrickson of National Bakery [National Baking Company] who has provided metal containers that will be transformed into workspaces, and a grant award from Creative Caribbean, a regional grant funded by the EU & UNESCO. Other donors include ACP-EU Culture, University Of The West Indies & Caricom” shared the enterprising siblings with Tuesday Style Fashion (TSF).
“This transformative initiative is set to reshape the landscape of jewellery design and craftsmanship while championing the cause of single mothers and aspiring jewellery designers. The grant has been instrumental in transforming modified metal containers into fully functional spaces dedicated to the training and mentorship of single mothers and budding jewellery designers,” they added.Beyond empowering single mothers locally, the jewellery internship programme plans to expand its reach regionally.
“We believe in sharing our blessings and hope this project will be the start of empowering others, especially single mothers and fostering the next generation of jewellery designers,” stressed Teasea Bennett.
RÊVE Jewellery & Accessories was established in 2006 by sibling entrepreneurs Teasea and Duane Bennett and opened its showroom in Devon House in January 2009. Since then, the brand has won international and regional awards and has gained the love of many clients and celebrities such as Kelly
Rowland, Cherine Anderson, Tessanne Chin, Jah9, Sevana, Nia Long, all affectionately referred to as “RÊVEllers”. RÊVE created and launched the RÊVE Wellness Festival, now called RÊVE. FEST, has raised and donated funds to local organisations including the Jamaica Cancer Society, Mona School of Hope & Reach One Child Foundation.
The roll-out, TSF has been told, is scheduled for April 30, 2024
