Source magazine hails Tifa as ‘superstar queen’, artiste to be honoured at QORIHC Awards
With the buzz still fresh surrounding her latest single ‘Say Yes’ (produced by Billboard-charting producer Kemar ‘Flava’ McGregor), dancehall artiste Tifa is to be honoured at the QORIHC Awards on March 24 at the Karl Hendrickson Auditorium, Jamaica College.
Earlier this week, respected American hip-hop music publication The Source magazine, hailed Tifa as a “superstar queen” in its headline.
“It’s always a great feeling to be acknowledged for the blood, sweat and tears that you put in. It’s a joy and the reception has been overly amazing since the start of the year,” Tifa said in a media release.
Since she emerged on the music scene in the late-2000s, Tifa has held her own as an artiste while breaking barriers musically. She has worked with corporate brands in the role of brand ambassador for companies including BMW, Wisynco and Digicel. She has also given back to her community in terms of outreach and charity.
Having grown up in a musical family, Tifa was previously enrolled in performing arts schools before music became her driving force.
Tifa got her big break working with production team Ward 21.
Songs such as Bottom of the Barrel, Crawny Gyal, Matie Wine, I’ve Got Money, Spell it Out, Back it Up, Certified Diva, Move Yuh Body and Rasta Man with Grammy winner Kabaka Pyramid, are among her better-known songs.
She notes that performing in the Czech Republic, Central Europe, has been a major highlight of her music career.
“Being the first female dancehall/reggae artiste to perform in Czech Republic is a major high point for me musically,” she shared.
Since the release of Say Yes, Tifa has been featured in local and international press. They include Source magazine, Thisis50.com, 24hip-hop.com, Dripmode Magazine, King Power magazine, Spinnitradio.com, urbanhitsmagazine.com and rockersmagazine.com.
She spoke about working with McGregor on Say Yes.
“It’s a joy working with Flava. He’s a dope producer and musician, so creatively, when we link up, it’s like magic. I also learnt a lot from him,” said Tifa.
