Police issue traffic congestion warning ahead of Change of Command ceremony
KINGSTON, Jamaica— The Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) is warning the public to expect unusual traffic congestion Monday evening as it hosts a Change of Command ceremony at the Commissioner’s Office on Old Hope Road in Kingston.
The event is expected to begin at 5pm, and the JCF is warning motorists to anticipate further delays in the usually high trafficked area.
As a result the JCF says it is urging “all motorists to drive responsibly and with patience” and to “cooperate with the police personnel who will be managing traffic flow to ensure a safe and orderly travel experience”.
The JCF also suggests that motorists use alternate routes where possible.
The Change of Command ceremony is to officially place Deputy Commissioner Dr Kevin Blake as the next head of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
He will assume his new role on Tuesday, March 19, succeeding the current commissioner, Major General Antony Anderson, whose tenure concludes on March 18.
