Anything for love
THE importance of demonstrating commitment to a goal cannot be overemphasised. Women appreciate men who are willing to make sacrifices; it shows that they’re thinking outside the box. Because if the man can catch a grenade for her, and, as Meat Loaf said, do anything for love, why shouldn’t he?
What’s the most lengths men have travelled for love? These three men share their unbelievable tales.
Miguel, 34:
I lived in Mona, she lived down Waterhouse side. I drove my little car to her house one night, and she invited me to stay over. She said my car would be safe. My friends and family warned me about the area, but she assured me that they were just biased. Next morning there was only the indentation of the wheels on the grass to prove that my car had been parked there. She didn’t even blink, just made a phone call and told me to go back inside. Within an hour my car was back, just missing the radio, which she said she would buy back for me. Then she said I shouldn’t use that incident to judge her.
Andre, 28:
I lived in Greenvale (if you know you know) and she lived in Porus, Manchester, with her extended family. She had just finished building her own little unit on the family house and said I could finally sleep over. Arrived after 8:00 pm and we were chilling. At about midnight her father came and told her that she wasn’t allowed to have any man in his house. Mind you, she was 25, had just spent money building her flat at the back, and he was still giving her rules. I explained to the man that I couldn’t travel to Greenvale so late at night, worse, no taxi would go into that area even if I could get one. He suggested that I sleep on his sofa, but I wasn’t comfortable with that. I got a bus to Mandeville and just walked to my house, all the while hoping that no gunman would target me.
Anthony, 22:
This was back in high school, when we were both in upper sixth. She lived with her older sister and one evening said her sister was gonna be home late so I should come by to hang out and study. I walked from Naggo Head to Caribbean Estate to her house, only for her to text me when I was at the security gate to “abort mission” because she had homework to finish and her neighbours were nosy. That walk back was brutal, because I didn’t even have money to buy a bottle of water.
