Trishana’s top picks — Jamaica College athletes to watch at Champs 2024
1. Kemarrio Bygrave – Class One – 800/1500m
He’s the favourite in the events and has registered impressive personal-best times this season. He also seems more confident in his race execution, which should help in the events.
2. Samuel Creary – Class Two – 800/1500m
Creary, like his senior, is well coached and will look to get onto the podium for his school.
3. Shaquan Dunn – Class One – Shot Put & Discus Throw
The senior is one of the favourite athletes heading into the championships. If he should remain focused and put together a good series, the shot put and discus will be off sailing in distance.
4. Cavel Nooks – Class Three – 800/1500m
He will want to do well at the championships to not be left out of the distance crew celebration. A spot in the final is also a big win for Nooks.
5. Balvin Israel – Class One – Jumper
Israel should lead the way in the pit for the “True Blues”. He will need all the claps and support from the Old Hope Road-based supporters to assist him on the runway.
