Two from two for She’s A Godgift
Three-year-old American-bred bay filly She’s A Godgift comfortably defeated challengers in a Restricted Stakes contest over 5 ½ furlongs (1,100m) on Saturday, March 9, 2024 to achieve her second win in as many starts.
With Tevin Foster in the saddle for trainer Leroy Tomlinson, She’s A Godgift won the imported three-year-old and upwards (non-winners of three)/native-bred three-year-old and four-year-old (non-winners of four) call by six lengths. The race ended in a time 1:07.3 (23.1 x 47.3).
She’s A Godgift jumped out in front at the start and held the lead ahead of Kem (Sadiki Blake), Legit Boss (Raddesh Roman), and Money Market (Dane Dawkins).
Money Market caught up with She’s A Godgift halfway through the race, and Huntsman (ridden by Christopher Mamdeen) joined them approaching the distance. However, She’s A Godgift found extra energy on the inside and overtook Huntsman to win comfortably.
Kem came in second, with Huntsman in third place.
Tomlinson was pleased with the filly’s performance and said he has high expectations for his charge. He also praised Foster for his excellent ride. Tomlinson then said they would decide on her next race, which would depend on how she recovers from this one.
“I did expect good things from this horse for a long time. It was a good performance from
She’s A Godgift to win here, and I am happy.
“When we see how she comes out of the race, we will then decide what is next for her. The jockey rode a very good race. I told him that if he didn’t get the lead, he must just relax her so she could finish. I know that she can finish the race,” Tomlinson told the
Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide.
