A triple century, two doubles and huge victory margins in Headley Cup
May Day High School’s Javed Williams smashed a triple century, while Kenardo Cameron of Clarendon College and Tyriek Bryan
of St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS) scored double centuries in enormously lopsided wins during last week’s second round of the ISSA/GraceKennedy Headley Cup cricket competition.
At Clarendon College, the home team defeated Cornwall College by 377 runs. Clarendon College made 414 for 9 declared with Cameron making 217 and Jovannie Palmer, 55.
Cameron then captured three wickets for 10 runs and fast bowler Tequan Roberts five for 17 as Cornwall were bowled out for 37.
At the STETHS Sports Complex in Santa Cruz, the home team beat Dinthill Technical High by 366 runs.
STETHS captain and opener Bryan stroked 200 before retiring, and Kevaun Brown also retired having made 142 as the defending champions piled up 419 for two wickets declared.
Dinthill Technical were then dismissed for 53 with West Indies Under-19 fast bowler Deshawn James taking two wickets for four runs, left-arm pacer Adrian Silvera two for 30 and Demitri Binns two for zero.
At May Day High School, the home team beat Ocho Rios High by 458 runs.
Williams’ 347 and Captain Christopher Lewis’s 127 catapulted May Day High, last season’s beaten finalists, to 560 for six wickets declared.
Ocho Rios High replied with 102 as Jadeek Walker led the way with 35 not out.
Bowling for May Day High, Chadwick Hewitt took five for 23 and Devar Murray 3 for 55.
