Waite replaces Wall as head coach of U-20 national team
KINGSTON, Jamaica— The Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) has announced the appointment of Jerome Waite as the new coach of the Under-20 men’s team, replacing John Wall, as they prepare for the Concacaf Qualifiers for the FIFA World Cup 2026.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the JFF explained that Wall has been recalled from his coaching duties to focus on assisting coach Heimir Hallgrimsson in preparing the Senior Men’s National team for upcoming competitions including the Nations League, the Copa America championship, and the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Wall, who is the FIFA Talent Development Scheme manager for Jamaica and assistant coach to Hallgrimsson, coached the U-20 men’s team at the recent Concacaf qualifying round in St Lucia, the release stated.
The release added that Waite will work with the U-20 team, which will go into the Concacaf championship/final round World Cup qualifiers in June.
“It’s always a joy working with the national programme. It will be great going into the qualifiers with this group of players. Qualification won’t be easy, but it is something that can be accomplished,” Waite said.
Waite is also the current head coach of Wolmer’s Boys and Tivoli Gardens Premiere League teams.
