Rum For Breakfast serves up great vibes, food
It may have taken some time before the party got into full swing, but there was no stopping the ‘big, bad soca’ as Rum For Breakfast took over the grounds of Hope Gardens, Saturday morning.
Arguably one of Bacchanal Jamaica’s biggest pre-road march events, Rum For Breakfast pulled quite the crowd.
The event, which was billed to get underway at 7:00 am, was almost packed around noon with patrons still steadily streaming in.
Returning to its home, nestled inside the lush, garden space, the ultimate breakfast party gave soca lovers exactly what they yearned.
Patrons were seen dancing up a storm, sweat visibly dripping from some of their bodies as they let the sweet sounds captivate them.
Tasked with setting the tone from early, selectors such as Matt Camps, Noctural and Tyler Fyah did a decent job of getting patrons ready to ‘wuk up’ as the morning progressed. Songs such as Machel Mantano’s Happiest Man Alive, Kerwin Du Bois’ Too Real, Destra Garcia’s Just A Little Bit, and Patrice Robert’s Anxiety had the crowd in a chokehold as they warmed up their waistlines for what was to come.
The energy inside Hope Gardens only swelled from there as soca lovers got lost in the song selections.
The party transcended to higher heights after deejays Franco and Brush1, the Road Marshall lived up to expectations. The pair had the crowd vibing to hit after hit as the party climaxed.
But while the energy inside Rum For Breakfast grew, the breakfast buffet was always serving at its optimum level. Dishing out delectable morning-time treats, including the traditional Jamaican breakfast items such as mackerel rundown, ackee and saltfish, callaloo, etc, organisers made sure patrons were satiated as they partied. The menu also quickly changed to include lunch specials such as curried mutton and a creamy jerk chicken pasta as it approached noon.
