Consistency pays off for Zayn’s Princess
Zayn’s Princess, after finishing second in her last three outings, went one better in a Maiden Condition Race for native-bred four-year-olds and upward over 5 furlongs (1,000m) straight on Saturday, March 9, 2024.
With Roger Hewitt riding for owner/trainer Barrington Bernard, the four-year-old chestnut filly Zayn’s Princess romped home by a length and a quarter with a clocking of 1:03.3 (24.0 x 48.3).
Zayn’s Princess got a good break at the off, racing with leaders She’s Alone (Shane Richardson), Cosmic Force (Tevin Foster), and
Readmylips (Oneil Mullings).
Zayn’s Princess continued to race prominently behind Benson (Paul Francis), who recovered from a poor start, to lead runners passing the dummy rails.
Inside the final furlong and a half (300m), Zayn’s Princess hit top gear and drew clear for an easy win.
Cosmic Force finished second, ahead of Benson in third place. The win by Zayn’s Princess was Bernard’s first for the season.
