Aperol, PBS to contest 2024 Players Championship polo final
APEROL and PBS are to contest the 2024 Players Championship polo final this afternoon at Kingston Polo Club, Caymanas Estates, after respective semi-final wins over BMW and Dougall Flooring on Friday, March 8, 2024.
Start time is scheduled for midday.
In the subsidiary final Dougall Flooring are set to face BMW at 11:00 am.
In Friday’s semi-finals Aperol — featuring Pipe Sigret (of Argentina), Paul Lalor, Charlie Chambers and Mark Chin — defeated BMW (Mark Wates, Andy Vernon, James Robertson and Fabbi Byles) in a close, exciting contest.
Approximately halfway through the encounter the injured Chambers was replaced by Zac Byles.
In Friday’s other semi PBS — featuring Freddie Farquharson, Jean Jack Humbert (of Argentina), John G Byles and Adam Laing — beat Dougall Flooring which comprised Tom Pistone (of Argentina), Shane Chin, Jon Dougal and Michele Suberan, in a slightly more one-sided affair.
The players and spectators then had post-match drinks and dinner in the club house with Ambassador Marcelo Angel Balbi Calvo and Facundo Santiago, the chargé d’affaires at the Argentine Embassy, who battled the Friday afternoon traffic to get to the venue and support their compatriots.
