PNP’s Bascoe resigns as MP candidate after ‘malicious’ allegation
Errol Bascoe has resigned as the People’s National Party (PNP) provisional candidate for Member of Parliament of St Mary Western following an unspecified allegation.
In his resignation letter, Bascoe called the allegation “scurrilous and malicious” while maintaining his innocence.
“I am innocent of this false accusation, and I am confident that the truth will prevail in due course. However, recognising the potential impact on the party’s reputation and the importance of prioritising its interests, I have chosen to step aside as the candidate for Western St Mary,” Bascoe said. “This decision will also allow me to dedicate my full attention to addressing this matter and clearing my good name.”
He also expressed gratitude to the party, its members and the people of St Mary Western.
“I know that, in time, justice will be served and my good name will be preserved,” Bascoe, who is the principal of Tacky High School, said.
