Moulton promises community development in Retreat
PORT MARIA, St Mary — First-time Councillor Daedre Moulton (Jamaica Labour Party, Retreat Division) has promised transparency as she works closely with central government to improve the division and the lives of its residents.
“My representation will be based on community building in the division I am representing,” she told the Jamaica Observer.
“One of my mandates is to ensure that these agencies implement programmes that will move our communities forward,” she added.
Moulton said she intends to implement programmes that will be beneficial to residents, especially the young people.
She is one of the two female councillors elected on a JLP ticket to sit in the St Mary Municipal Corporation. In the February 26 poll, the JLP won six divisions to the People’s National Party’s (PNP) seven. Moulton took home Retreat by defeating the PNP’s Melva Humes 1,339 votes to 1,119. The seat was previously held by now-Member of Parliament for St Ann North Western, Krystal Lee.
