Road closures to affect sections of Corporate Area this weekend
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Motorists are being advised that Courtney Walsh Drive in St Andrew, between its intersections with Eastwood Park Road and Westminister Road, will be closed for intermittent repairs going into the weekend.
The closure which began on Thursday will see the area being inaccessible between 6:00 am on Sunday and 12:00 am on Monday.
Manager of Communication and Customer Services at the National Works Agency, Stephen Shaw in a release said that the works on Courtney Walsh Drive will see the milling of the existing pavement on Thursday evening and the repaving of the roadway on Sunday with asphaltic concrete.
In the meantime, a section of Waltham Park Road will also be closed to vehicular traffic on Saturday, March 9 between the hours of 8:00 am and 6:00 pm. The closure will be between its intersection at Mandela Terrace (near the bridge) and the intersection at Henderson Avenue.
Shaw stated that the works at Waltham Park Road form part of a seven-week long contract that will include drainage improvement works and pavement repairs. He said that the works this weekend is to facilitate drainage works, such as the construction of kerb and channel and repairs to inlets.
During the period of closure, motorists are advised to use alternative routes to access their destinations. For Waltham Park Road, motorists will be detoured onto Stafford Avenue, then continue onto Keesing Avenue to continue onto Waltham Park Road.
Motorists are also being urged to exercise caution during the period of closure and to obey the instructions of posted warning signs.
