After the first two months of the 2024 racing season, four-year-old foreigner Is That A Fact is the top money earner, while KP Choice has the most wins with three.
Is That A Fact, trained by Jason DaCosta, has raced three times in 2024, winning twice and finishing second. So far, Is That A Fact has won $2,892,400, which should go a long way toward securing a position in the Mouttet Mile in December.
Not far behind Is That A Fact is the Horse of the Year Atomica, who, from her two starts, has accomplished a win in the Ian levy Cup (8 ½ furlongs), and a second-place effort in the Chairman’s Plate (7 ½ furlongs). Atomica has earned $2,654,400 for her connections.
KP Choice ranks third with profits of $1,785,400. With three wins in as many starts, KP Choice leads the way in the win column, which should be highly lauded.
KP Choice’s first win of 2024 came on January 27 (5 furlongs straight) in a $1-million claiming race.
In the same category, KP Choice won his second race, this time over 5 ½ furlongs. On February 14, KP Choice surprised many by winning the Overnight Allowance race by 5 ½ lengths, with Robert Halledeen in the saddle for trainer Raymond Townsend.
In fourth place is probably the most improved runner in 2024,
Sensational Move, with two wins from three starts, plus one second-place finish, for earnings of $1,674,400.
Certainly, a horse to watch in 2024 is number seven on the earnings list, the DaCosta-trained importee Funcaandun. Funcaandun has raced twice and has won on those two occasions, earning $1,250,000.
