PNP senators should resign
Dear Editor,
People’s National Party (PNP) President Mark Golding’s position is now more secure than ever post-local government election. Any concerns his party had about him were all answered on Monday, February 26. Therefore, I believe it is time for the Opposition senators who were hand-picked by former PNP President Dr Peter Phillips to resign and give their leader a chance to pick his own slate.
Golding will likely go down as the first party leader of a major political party in Jamaica who was not given the chance to select his senators. Andrew Swaby is the new mayor of Kingston and St Andrew and should be appointed to the Senate, but that can’t happen because there is no vacancy. PNP General Secretary Dayton Campbell should also be in the Senate.
