Gin ‘N’ Juice goes soca vs retro
Gregg Smith, co-promoter of the Gin ‘N’ Juice, says the team is pulling out all the stops for the Soca vs Retro edition of the popular 90s house party on March 16.
“A high-powered serving of entertainment from the 90s awaits our patrons… We will once again deliver a super exciting event, where fun is guaranteed at a venue that is organised, safe, secure, and incident-free. Most importantly, our patrons know that with Gin ‘N’ juice we will take them back to a time when we were all young, wild, and free and that’s what exactly going to happen,” he told the Jamaica Observer.
The event is slated for Cherry Gardens Great House in St Andrew.
Disc jockeys Kurt Riley, Delano, and Smoke will take patrons on a musical trip down memory lane to soca hits from the 90s.
He explained the concept of having Soca vs Retro edition of the event.
“Most of our patrons love soca and have been requesting it for a while. So, as usual, we listen to our customers and move mountains to see that their needs are satisfied. The soca element is something we haven’t done before, and we are excited to execute this new expedition. Our valued patrons can count on our improvements, and we promise that the experience will only get better and better,” the co-promoter said.
He harked back to the early days of the event:
“The first Gin ‘N’ Juice was held in 1994 at College Common, which happens to be an exclusive neighbourhood across from The University of West Indies, Mona [UWI], where only professors and members of The UWI staff were allowed to live. It was held at my friend, Ronald Young’s house, who lived resided in neighbourhood at the time. The event went really well and it was something to behold.”
Smith said with each iteration patrons continue to be more and more satisfied.
