Tru-Juice cements second place in JFF Championship
TRU-JUICE FC ended Chapelton Maroons’ five-game unbeaten run with a come-from-behind 3-2 win at Turners Field on Saturday and increased their lead over third place in the Jamaica Football Federation Championship.
Tru-Juice FC, semi-finalists last season, are on 24 points — four more than Chapelton Maroons and Baptist Alliance and four behind leaders Racing United who were 2-0 winners over Falmouth United.
Tru-Juice FC trailed 1-0 and 2-1 before scoring twice in the last two minutes of regulation and extra time, to beat Chapelton Maroons.
Rashaun Linton gave Chapelton Maroons the lead in the 11th minute and Romario Taylor equalised for Tru-Juice FC in the 40th minute, but Leaugnghn Williams scored a minute later to restore Chapelton Maroons’ lead.
Ranike Anderson scored for Tru-Juice in the 88th minute to pull them level at 2-2, before Dwight McKenzie scored the winner three minutes into time added.
Chapelton Maroons’ Javell Plunkett was sent off in time added.
Racing United scored their ninth win of the season, seeing off Falmouth United 2-0 with goals from Diamond Clarke in the 38th minute and Raheem Edward in the 56th minute.
Baptist Alliance edged past Chapelton Maroons into third place after they played out a 1-1 draw against Faulkland FC who had won their previous two games.
Mikhail Francis gave Faulkland FC the lead in the ninth minute but Tamar Francis scored his ninth of the season in the 47th as the teams shared the points.
Brown’s Town FC handed Hopewell United their fifth-straight loss when they won 2-0 and moved to 19 points in fifth place, just one point away from a semi-final spot.
Reno FC earned Westmoreland bragging rights after beating Petersfield FC 2-0 at Llandilo Sports Complex.
Meadforest FC scored two late goals to beat St Bess United at Lacovia Community Centre with goals from Patrick Dixon in the 83rd minute and Rodario Edwards a minute into time added, as they rebounded from their loss to Faulkland FC the previous round.
