Mt Pleasant FC edge Waterhouse to move clear at top of JPL
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Champions Mt Pleasant FA moved three points clear at the top of the Wray And Nephew Jamaica Premier League on Sunday after edging Waterhouse FC 1-0 in their second round game played at the Waterhouse stadium.
Kimoni Bailey’s 78th minute goal gave Mt Pleasant FA the win and took them to 46 points, three more than Cavalier SC who have two games in hand.
Nickalia Fuller scored a brace to lead Tivoli Gardens to a 5-0 win over Treasure Beach. Tivoli are in third place on goal-difference over Portmore United who came from a goal down at half time to earn a 1-1 draw with Montego Bay United, both on 41 points.
Fuller scored in the third and 18th minutes, Anthony Nelson made it 3-0 in the 34th minute while Alton Lewis scored in the 45th minute and Lennox Russell added a fifth in the 65th minute.
Courtney Allen handed Montego Bay United the lead in the 40th minute but the veteran Rudolph Austin scored with two minutes left in regulation to earn Portmore a point.
Arnett Gardens won for the first time in four outings, edging Vere United 1-0 with a 23rd minute goal from Roderick Granville to improve to 38 points and fifth place.
Molynes United snapped a four-game winless run after coming from behind to beat Lime Hall Academy 2-1.
Cory Hylton scored in the 55th minute to give Lime Hall the lead and minutes after having a penalty kick saved, Molynes United drew level when Shamaro Dennis scored in the 75th minute. Jeremy Nelson then scored a penalty in time added to give Molynes the win.
