Dunkley, Terrelonge claim U-20 100m titles at Carifta Trials
JAVORNE Dunkley of Elite Performance and Thieanna-Lee Terrelonge of Edwin Allen have both expressed their delight after producing impressive performances to capture the Under-20 boys’ and girls’ 100m events, respectively, on the second day of the three-day Carifta Trials at the National Stadium on Saturday.
Dunkley sped to 10.32 seconds to win the event comfortably, ahead of St Jago’s Raheem Pinnock (10.44s) and Khamani Gordon of Calabar who finished third in 10.45s. Dunkley was very slow out of the blocks before recovering at the 60m mark to outsprint his rivals to the finish line and win the event.
“I have been working very hard for this and so I am very happy that I came out on top,” said Dunkley. “I didn’t get a good start but after I came out of my drive phase I was able to execute the race properly and so I have to give God thanks for that.”
