Sensational Move prime for third SVREL Anniversary Trophy
Sensational Move, the Gary Subratie-conditioned four-year-old chestnut colt, will go for his third-consecutive win in today’s $1.75-million Supreme Ventures Racing and Entertainment Limited (SVREL) Anniversary Trophy feature race.
Without a doubt, Sensational Move is one of the most improved horses in training at present. The Sensational Slam – Money Move offspring Sensational Move romped home to his second-consecutive win when easily defeating all of the runners present here over the five-straight (1,000m) course on February 17. Sensational Move won the race by 4 ¼ lengths, beating Emperorofthecats and Madelyn’s Sunshine in 59.2 seconds.
Faced with the same runners he defeated here, Sensational Move would be expected to repeat, but this is not the case. The race is now on round course at five and a half furlongs (1,100m), making Emperorofthecats and
Madelyn’s Sunshine two formidable challengers.
The Graded Stakes/Open Allowance contest for three-year-olds and upward is positioned as the seventh event on the 10-race card with a post time of 3:25pm, and the first race at 11:40 am.
Emperorofthecats’ fall against Sensational Move marked the five-year-old bay gelding’s first loss out of the straight. However, the Carl Anderson trainee does well around the curve, as four of his five wins last year came around the turn. Breaking free from this one draw, Emperorofthecats can turn the tables and defeat the rest of the field as well.
Madelyn’s Sunshine, conditioned by Jason DaCosta, finished third behind Sensational Move and Emperorofthecats by 6 ¼lengths. She is not a fan of the straight course, and is better suited to the round course, making her a genuine contender here.
Madelyn’s Sunshine was just beaten a length by Desert of Malibu over six furlongs (1,200m) on January 13 and she had Emperorofthecats two lengths behind her in third place that day. If Madelyn’s Sunshine can reproduce that effort, then she can win here.
Sensational Move will carry a top weight of 57.0 kgs (126 lb) with Raddesh Roman in the saddle, Emperorofthecats has 55.0kgs (121) with Richard Henry in the saddle, and Madelyn’s Sunshine has 54.5 kgs (120 lb) with Tevin Foster riding.
With all three runners showing signs of readiness, a titanium battle to the wire is expected where any number can play. However, going with odds, Sensational Move is given the edge.
