Reggae Youths and Flankers United seek return to Sandals final
ST JAMES, Jamaica – Defending champions Reggae Youths and Flanker United will start their quest to return to the final of the St James Football Association Sandals Resorts International Major League today when the first leg of the semi-finals are played at Wespow Park.
Flanker United, winners of Zone A, will take on Zone B runners-up Lilliput Rovers in the first game set to start at 1:00 pm, followed by Reggae Youths, winners of Zone B, against Granville United, set to start at 3:30 pm.
After just missing the semis last season, Lilliput Rovers edged past Cambridge United in the final round of matches but faced the only team with an unbeaten record in the competition.
Flanker United boasts the best defensive record with only four goals conceded while Lilliput Rovers’ nine conceded is the most by any team still in the competition.
Danique Clarke, Humboia Ford and Jermaine Irving have combined for 12 of Flanker United’s 16 goals scored and they will be expected to lead the attack today.
Reggae Youths, who are seeking back-to-back titles go into their game against Granville United with the most goals scored with 28, 11 more than Granville United managed.
Kemar Reid leads the league with seven goals and should be supported by Sachin Wilmott.
