The Pinyatas Lounge in St Andrew came alive on Sunday, February 18, for the 11th staging of 1Newbreed’s Support Fi Support stage show and party.
The event brought out some of the who’s who of Jamaica’s dancehall including founder of Stone Love Movements, Winston ‘Wee Pow’ Powell; Uptown Mondays promoter Whitfield ‘Witty’ Henry; singer Turbulence; veteran deejay Harry Toddler; rising artistes Willful Skilful, Tyrical and Wasp among others.
Promoter Larry ‘1Newbreed’ Reid said he was pleased at the turnout and noted that he was looking forward to making an even bigger splash with the event next year.
Reid, an associate of dancehall icon Bounty Killer, says the event was inspired by the deejay’s 2013 track of the same title, ‘Support Fi Support’. It started as a street party in that year, the promoter told Observer Online in an interview last year.
“It actually started in the streets and then we took it to Weddy Weddy (Stone Love headquarters) and other venues,” Reid said. “As years went by more and more people came on board. It just grew.”
