Most improved trainer Ryan Williams
Ryan Williams, who has progressed from a stable lad to a successful thoroughbred horse conditioner, is committing to maintain a high degree of professionalism to continue his successes as a trainer.
Williams, who began training horses for racing at Caymanas Park in December of 2017, was voted as the most improved trainer for the 2023 racing season.
In 2022, Williams saddled four winners with earnings of $2,600,750, to finish in 50th position in the trainer’s standing. Last season Williams finished with eight winners and earnings of $4,884,000 for 36th position.
“I feel excellent and great; words can’t explain the feeling,” Williams told the
Jamaica Observer’s The Supreme Racing Guide.
“I started as a stable lad, and a lot of stables were at Christian Pen in Gregory Park, where I lived. I fell in love with racehorses from then, and I have worked my way to where I am today.
“My number of horses didn’t increase, but I improvised on what I had, so that makes me the most improved trainer from last year. I work with what I have,” Williams added.
Williams said that he hoped to continue on this success going forward.
“For this season, you can expect great things from me. I mean, I am willing to continue doing the hard work to achieve more success. The best horse that I won with last year was
Magic Bullet; she came from last place to first place,” he added.
