Ackeem Blake qualifies for World Indoor 60m final
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Ackeem Blake qualified for his first major global final after winning his semi-final heat of the men’s 60m on Friday’s opening day of the World Athletics Indoor Championships at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow, Scotland.
Blake got another great start as he raced to 6.51 seconds, just ahead of Emmanuel Eseme who set a second Cameroon national record of the day with 6.52 seconds, after he had run 6.54 seconds in the first round.
In the final set for 4:45pm Jamaica time, Blake will line up against Americans Christian Coleman, the 2018 gold medallist in Birmingham and silver medalist two years ago in Belgrade, Serbia and who ran a world leading equalling 6.43 seconds and Noah Lyles, who ran 6.47 seconds in the semi-final, the fastest time in the championships.
Also advancing are Kenya’s Ferdinand Omanyala, Italy’s Chituru Ali, Sweden’s Henrik Larsson and Japan’s Shuhei Tada.
