Shericka Jackson nominated for 2024 Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaica’s Sports Woman of 2023, Shericka Jackson, has been nominated for the prestigious Laureus Sports Woman of the Year award it was announced on Monday.
The announcement was made by the Laureus World Sports Awards committee at the historic Casa de Correos in Madrid, the headquarters of the Presidency of the Community of Madrid, Spain.
Jackson retained her World Athletics Championships women’s 200m title in Budapest, Hungary in August and won silver medals in the 100m and 4x100m relays as well.
She lowered her personal best in the 200m to 21.41 seconds at Budapest, just shy of the world record of 21.34 seconds set in 1988 by the late American Florence Griffith-Joyner
Jackson is one of three track and field athletes among the seven nominees, including World Champions Faith Kipyegon of Kenya and American Sha’ Carrie Richardson, as well as Spanish football player Aitana Bonmati, Polish tennis player Igo Swiatek and American Alpine Skier Mikaela Shiffrin.
