PNP Royal Flat candidate Donovan Mitchell predicting 400-vote margin of victory
MANCHESTER, Jamaica — People’s National Party (PNP) candidate for the Royal Flat Division in Manchester Central, Donovan Mitchell, is predicting a margin of victory of 400 votes at the close of polls.
“I have done the work. People are convinced that I have done the work and I am pretty well confident that at the end of today, anytime after five or when the ballots are counted, the people will not make any other choice than to keep what they know,” he said on Monday in Broadleaf, Manchester.
Mitchell, who is the chairman of the Manchester Municipal Corporation, said the Royal Flat Division “is not a runaway division”.
“I am looking at over 300 votes, 400 votes. Royal Flat Division… is one that can come out close. I remember at one time it was at 55 then it went to 202 then it went to 500 and something then went back down to 200 and something. I think at the end of today, the people of Royal Flat will still have Councillor Donovan Mitchell,” he added.
Mitchell is being challenged by the Jamaica Labour Party’s Richard Delapenha.
Mitchell had won by 202 votes in the November 2016 election over Delapenha.
