‘Mi want a change’
-Man lifted from wheelchair to cast vote
ST ANDREW, Jamaica— Determined to not let his physical disability hinder his ability to make his voice heard, Oliver Webster made his way to the polling station at Swallowfield Examination Depot in St Andrew where he was lifted from his wheelchair by fellow voters and assisted to cast his ballot.
Webster shared with Observer Online that he is a ‘Michael Manley PNP’ who has voted in every election.
He said that he made it his mission to visit the polling station early Monday morning to cast a ballot as he is frustrated with the current Government.
“Mi want a change. The corporate people are not speaking out. The churches aren’t speaking out. The masses them just a get a little chump change. Mi tired a them and mi affi make a change,” Webster told Observer Online.
He said that he has never let his disability get in the way of him performing his civil duty and will always show up to vote, even if it means he has to be lifted.
“Them system not working and they have to go. So if mi affi wheel myself come vote, mi a go vote,” he added.
