Major Steppa, Richie Flo aim to uplift with ‘Pilot’
Ghanaian singjay Major Steppa is high on spirituality with Pilot, a song he recently recorded with Jamaican singer Richie Flo.
Released in January, it is produced by Fresh Flamez Entertainment. With several of his previous songs having a party theme, Major Steppa wanted a change in course for his latest effort.
“I am a highly spiritual person who draws inspiration from the Most High Jah through consistent prayer, meditation, personal experiences, and beliefs, finding faith and guidance in challenging times,” he explained.
“As a humble, cultural youth who views humanity as my religion, I find inspiration in the interconnectedness and shared experiences of all individuals, believing in the power of love, compassion, empathy, and unity to guide my actions and interactions with others. These beliefs shape my worldview and influence how I strive to make a positive impact on the world around me,” Major Steppa added.
He was introduced to the Canada-based Richie Flo by Jamaican music industry veteran Carl “One Blood Carl” Thomas. Richie Flo heard Major Steppa expressing his religious beliefs on a British radio programme and felt an instant kinship.
Once the formalities were complete, the two artistes got down to work.
“I sent Richie Flo the instrumental with the intention of collaborating and getting to know his music. We had several conversations to brainstorm the song’s direction,” Major Steppa disclosed.
A video depicting their resilience as they overcome personal challenges was recently released.
Pilot is the follow-up to Patience (Cool Down), a song Major Steppa did with fellow Ghanaian artiste, Kwame Partan.
Born and raised in Accra, Ghana’s capitol, Major Steppa was raised on his country’s indigenous sounds, as well as Jamaican reggae and dancehall.
He hopes his latest song has a profound impact on those who hear it.
“Pilot aims to inspire listeners worldwide with its uplifting message of hope and motivation, resonating with a diverse audience,” he said.
