Demar Francis lowers own national indoor 200m record
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Demar Francis of Baylor University broke the Jamaican National indoor record for the men’s 200m after he ran 20.42 seconds in the preliminary rounds of the NCAA Big12 indoor championships held at Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas, this past weekend.
Francis, the former Excelsior High runner who also attended the University of South Dakota before transferring to Baylor, broke his old record of 20.46 seconds set last year when he finished second in the Big12 championships.
This was the second Jamaican national record that was broken over the weekend as Lamara Distin broke the women’s high jump record after clearing 2.00m to win her third straight South-eastern Conference title.
