Proven Properties Limited, JIE forge strategic alliance to elevate engineering education
KINGSTON, Jamaica – In a move set to transform the landscape of engineering education and industry standards, Proven Properties Limited (PPL) and the Jamaica Institution of Engineers (JIE) have inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to formalise their collaboration.
According to a news release, the signed MOU signifies a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing engineering education and addressing industry needs in the country. Among the key provisions of the agreement are initiatives to explore current and future educational requirements and establish a framework providing funding opportunities for scholarships, internships, apprenticeships, mentorships, and other forms of student engagement at tertiary institutions offering Engineering Education.
Notably, these programs will be coordinated by the JIE and funded by PPL, with a focus on institutions such as the University of the West Indies – Mona and the University of Technology.
Under the terms of the MOU, Proven Properties Limited and JIE have pledged to work closely to identify and coordinate technical expertise for various projects and programs. The partnership also includes measures to hold engineers accountable for their professional obligations and to establish an institutional framework to govern collaborative activities.
