Tru-Juice look for redemption against Reno
Tru-Juice FC will hope to rebound from Wednesday’s shock defeat to newcomers St Bess United in the Jamaica Football Federation Championship when they host Reno FC at the Bramwell Clarke Sports Complex in Ewarton, St Catherine, on Saturday at 3:30 pm.
The loss saw Tru-Juice FC drop one place to third on the table but a win today would see them reclaim second place, at least for 24 hours with the top two teams, Racing United and Baptist Alliance, meeting at Spanish Town Prison Oval on Sunday.
Also today, Chapelton Maroons expect to move up the chart when they play away to last-placed Portlanders FC, while red-hot Meadforest FC and Faulkland FC, both on 11 points, meet at WesPow Park.
After a strong start, Tru-Juice FC, semi-finalists last season, have struggled recently, losing three of their last four games, and face a Reno FC team that has lost just once in their last five outings.
Chapleton Maroons have also had a good run, winning four of their last three and drawing the other. They are expected to get the better of Portlanders FC in the first meeting between the teams.
Faulkland FC are coming off their best showing of the season, beating Petersfield FC 4-0, and are hoping they can carry over the momentum against Meadforest FC, who have won their last three games and are coming off a morale-boosting win over leaders Racing United.
Statistically, there is little between the teams that will be meeting for the first time, with Faulkland FC conceding one goal more than the Kingston team that has shot up the points tables in the past few rounds.
Faulkland FC has significantly strengthened their squad after a dreadful start and need to build on their good win on Wednesday.
Hopewell United will be seeking their first win over Falmouth United when they meet at Orchard Sports Complex, losing 1-0 and 6-2 over the last two seasons.
Hopewell United are slightly better off than Falmouth United, both in the relegation zone; today’s game will be crucial to both teams.
