ST JAMES, Jamaica— An intelligence-led operation resulted in the seizure of one firearm, several rounds of ammunition and the arrest of one man in Ackee Tree Lane in Green Pond, St James on Saturday.

Reports are that between the hours of 10:00am and 1:30pm, members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force and Jamaica Defence Force carried out a search operation at a man’s home in Ackee Tree Lane, after receiving information that the man allegedly trafficked illegal weapons and ammunition into the country.

Police said that during the search of a room which the suspect occupied on the five-bedroom house,  a 9mm Taurus G3C pistol was found along with 50 9mm cartridges, two 12-capacity Taurus magazines and one extended Taurus magazine.

Additional information found in the man’s cellular phones suggested that he recently had four handguns in his possession and approximately 650 rounds of ammunition, police reported.

The man’s identity is being withheld pending further investigation.
