Lamara Distin breaks national women’s high jump record
KINGSTON, Jamaica— Lamara Distin rewrote her own Jamaican women’s high jump record after she cleared 2.00m to win a third straight South Eastern Conference (SEC) indoors at the Tyson Sports Complex in Fayetteville, Arkansas on Saturday.
The Texas A&M University senior, broke her own personal best and school record of 1.97m and set a meet record, collegiate record and equalled the facility record.
She held the previous meet record of 1.95m set last year, broke the collegiate record of 1.98m set in 2016 and tied the facility record held by Vashti Cunningham set in 2021.
Romaine Beckford of the University of Arkansas won the men’s title with a 2.25m clearance, while Villanova’s Roschell Clayton won the Big East women’s high jump title clearing 1.85m.
Daniella Anglin of South Dakota was second in the women’s high jump at the Summit League indoors championships, the first time she was losing at a conference final in six appearances.
