Guyana’s Archibald retains men’s long jump title at Gibson
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Emanuel Archibald of Swept TC retained his men’s long jump title after posting a season’s best 7.66m (-0.5m/s) at Saturday’s 47th staging of the Gibson/McCook Relays at the National Stadium.
In a repeat of last year’s results, the Guyanese beat Jamaica’s Shawn-D Thompson who had a season’s best 7.44m (1.0m/s) while Aubrey Allen was third with 7.34m (-0.5m/s).
Excelsior High’s Ryheen Campbell won the pole vault Open with a clearance of 3.80m, beating Kingston College’s Courtney Hanchard (3.60m) and Jamaica College’s Lebron James (3.50m) in third place.
Edwin Allen High’s Rasheda Samuels won the women’s high jump with 1.75m, beating her teammate Asia McKay (1.70m) and Ramona Hylton of Swept TC who cleared 1.65m.
