Omar McLeod and Britany Anderson open season in Berlin
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Jamaican sprint hurdlers Omar McLeod and Britany Anderson opened their 2024 season when they ran the 60m sprints at the ISTAF Berlin Indoor at the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Berlin on Friday.
McLeod was fourth in his first round heat in 6.67 seconds, ninth overall, as Emmanuel Eseme of Cameroon twice set new national records on his way to winning with 6.55 seconds in the final.
Earlier he had led the qualifying with 6.59 seconds which was also a national record.
Anderson, who missed all of last season with an injury after winning the silver medal in the 100m hurdles at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon in 2022, was fifth in her first round heat in 7.46 seconds,10th overall.
Italy’s Zaynab Dosso ran 7.11 seconds to lead qualifiers and won the finals in 7.09 seconds.
