Regional cricket: Pride reach 15-0 in reply to Scorpions 269
KINGSTON, Jamaica – Barbados Pride closed on 15 without loss in reply to Jamaica Scorpions’ 269 all out on the first day of the third-round regional four-day match at Sabina Park.
The not out batsmen for the Pride are Zachary McCaskie, on 13, and Captain Kraigg Brathwaite, on one.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Pride won the toss and asked the Scorpions to take first strike in sunny conditions.
After the Scorpions lost the experienced Chadwick Walton (five) with the total on 10, opener Carlos Brown (40) and West Indies Test left-hander Kirk McKenzie (40) added 75 runs for the second wicket.
Thereafter, the hosts lost a cluster of wickets in falling to 113-5, but wicketkeeper/batsman Romaine Morris held the innings together with a stoke-filled 97 not out to push their first-innings score to 269.
Left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican led the Pride’s bowling with 5-62, while fast bowler Jair McAllister took three wickets.
